ON THE BREEZE

What is written on the breeze

All around and through the trees...

A gentle stirring, pulsing hum

That whispers low, it has begun

Something that will change your sight

As sure as day turns into night

A steady softening of your gaze

An opening to subtle ways

Seeing what is rarely seen

Feeling with a sense so keen

Letting go and dropping in

Knowing silence as your kin.

What is whispered on the breeze

All around and through the trees...

A symphony of light and sound

Nature's beauty, colours abound

Uniqueness of each leaf and flower

Bursting forth from One Great Power

Reminds us well to honour all

The Sacred in the large and small

For love is the pulse of everything

The truth that makes your soul to sing

What is whispered on the breeze

All around and through the trees...

Secrets of an inner life

Beneath the pain, the fear, the strife

Something you can't quite recall

How things were before the fall

Before the plummet into form

Before forgetfulness was born.

Before the roaring in your ears

The misty veil made up of tears

The secret whispers to you still

If you but pause enough to fill

Your body with the ebb and flow

Of what was yours so long ago...

What is whispered on the breeze

All around and through the trees...

There is no distance for to go

Or thing to do, or be, or know

The journey ends when you are clear

All you need, is to be here

Awake in this Now moment of time

unfolding without reason or rhyme

To take a breath and be aware

To see what is already there

For in the now you hold the key

The sacred in the ordinary

What is whispered on the breeze

All around and through the trees...

A melody that lifts and calms

A healing touch, a soothing balm

You take a breath, then a door

Opens to somewhere known before

Where fear and struggle have no place

Where you and truth stand face to face

Suspended in a sea of light

Where you can see with perfect sight

That you were never far from home

Where love exists,

And love alone.

Child Psychotherapist

Sunshine Coast children's counsellor and psychotherapist, Monique Rutherford, has over eighteen years experience with children.  She has nurtured her interest in supporting growth in children both personally as a mother since 1989 and professionally since 1996 through her roles as Telephone Counsellor, Teacher, Behaviour Support Advisory Teacher, Well-Being Officer, School Counsellor and Child & Family Child Protection Therapist.

Monique’s journey began when she became a parent herself at seventeen.  Several years later, as a single mum she enrolled at James Cook University in Townsville studying Education and Psychology.  After graduation, Monique moved to Woorabinda, an Aboriginal community in Central Queensland, where she lived and taught for a couple of years.  This was an amazing experience where Monique fell in love with our indigenous heritage and began learning about the importance of secure and trusting relationships in the life of a child.

After transferring to the Sunshine Coast in 2000, Monique began her post graduate studies at the Qld University of Technology in Brisbane whilst teaching.  From 2000 to 2005 Monique completed two Masters Degrees in Education majoring in Behaviour Management and School Guidance and Counselling whilst working part time in the behaviour management field for Education Queensland.  In 2001, Monique gave birth to her second child, twelve years after her first and began the amazing parenting journey again.  Over the next four years, she also completed in-depth and advanced post graduate studies in Expressive Therapies through the Expressive Therapies Institute of Australia, Brisbane.

In 2006, bringing together all that she’d learned both personally and professionally, Monique founded Inside Out Counselling Service, a clinical counselling practice which integrates the philosophy of perinatal and transpersonal psychology, emotional release counselling, expressive therapies, secure attachment, stress & trauma, non-punitive behaviour methods and spirituality in order to enhance adult-child relationships and support the healing and emotional growth of children and young people.

Monique is a clinical member of the Queensland Counsellors Association (QCA) and a professional member of the Australian Counselling Association  (ACA).  Her official qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Education with three years of undergraduate study in Psychology
