Connecting with Kids™ Many child professionals face the dilemma of understanding the hardships that numerous children face whilst also experiencing the challenges these children present in their schools, agencies and practices. This unresolved dilemma in child professionals hardens the soul. Fortunately, more and more child professionals want new understandings and new skills to support children – not quick fixes. The ability to find a way to resolve our internal conflicts and be the people we want children to become is an exciting journey both personally and professionally. Compassion without permissiveness, firmness without disrespect is needed. Changes that start from within – changes that heal our souls, strengthen our character and improve our willpower – so we are strong enough to do the same for the children who walk through our doors and into our lives. Connecting with Kids™ offers this opportunity. It has been developed for those who know inside them that there is a better way. It is for those who feel punishing children for their wrong doings will not create change – just a need for more punishment. It is for child professionals who are ready to transform competitive environments into caring communities.
When we are faced in uncomfortable situations with children, we are being called to model our highest values instead of issuing threats, bribes, lectures or removal. This training has been developed for those who know that change and peace start inside and extend outwards. The willingness to make these positive changes will make a difference to the world we live in today and tomorrow.
